THE KILLING OF ALEXANDER KELLER - the Jew who stayed behind

26/10/23

26. October 2023

Storytelling

Who was Alexander Keller really and why hadn't he fled to Sweden? Was it a personal confrontation? And can you trust the testimony from the bitter court battle after the occupation?

17 February 1945, a Danish hipoman shoots a young man of Jewish origin. It is happening in the neighborhood in Copenhagen where the occupying power has its Danish base.

The narrators take the audience through the murder itself, as it is described from both the murderer and several witnesses. Using police records, court records, guidebooks, tax books and many other sources, the narrators piece together Alexander's life: What shaped him? What dreams did he have? Who was the fiance who appeared after the war?

The audience and narrators will together try to answer the big question: What really happened?

Come along and make your offer.

Chanet Deleuran, Hans Laurens and Katja Lange are on stage. They are assisted by historian Thomas Warburg.
