Inauguration of the memorial stone at Lund Harbour
1. October 2023
Memorial stone
Inauguration of a new large memorial stone with an accompanying ceremony, forever linking the escape boat, the Freedom Museum in Copenhagen, the Danish helpers and the Lund fishing lodge.
The main attraction at the new "Freedom Museum" in Copenhagen is the bottom twine dinghy "Ternen" by Lund (Rødvig). On October 2, 1943, 2 Jewish families (10 people) fled in the bundgarn dinghy from Lund. The helpers from the local area were an 18-year-old fisherman, a coastal policeman and a clerk from Køge. There is a dramatic story attached to the escape.
The program includes, among other things
- Musical entertainment from 12.30 p.m.
- Soloist – soprano
- Unveiling of the memorial stone (with names of the refugees)
- Faneborg (10-15 local association fans)
- Wreath laying
- Taler
- Community song
- Small "event" with illustration of the flight.
