The documentary "We survived" (2021) tells about the rescue from the Theresienstadt and Neuengamme concentration camps in 1945. The film gives a unique insight into how survivors experienced the last-minute rescue with the white buses. We survived is also a story about a dark time, from which citizenship, hope and gratitude rise. It must help show the youth of today and the future that peace and freedom are never a matter of course.
The film was created in collaboration between René Meyrowitsch and Steen Herdel with music by Benjamin Koppel. René Meyrowitsch's own parents and brother were rescued from Theresienstadt, which gives the film a personal nerve. René Meyrowitsch gives an introduction to the film and answers subsequent questions.
