Come and hear songs from Theresienstadt with Lenka Lichtenberg during the Jewish Culture Festival in Copenhagen

Thieves of Dreams is dedicated to the memory of Lenka Lichtenberg's grandmother, Theresienstadt's secret poetess, her mother and the six million who were murdered and never got to share their stories with the world. In 2016, Lichtenberg traveled from her home in Toronto to Prague, where she found in her mother's desk a notebook of 65 poems written by her grandmother just before and during her time in Theresienstadt.

"It was like receiving a treasure," she says, "a gift from another world." As a musician, it was obvious to put music to the poems to express the terrible memories of the Holocaust. For the premiere in Canada, President Trudeau wanted to participate with a video because he believes the poems are an invaluable testimony. After the concert, the Czech Embassy offers a glass of slivovitz.
