Lecture and city tour

Join us for a lecture about stumbling blocks followed by a city walk during the Jewish Culture Festival in Copenhagen

The stumbling block group in Copenhagen tells about the spread of stumbling blocks in Denmark. In 2019, the first stumbling blocks were laid in Denmark in Copenhagen and on Frederiksberg. The stumbling block is placed at the last residence of a person who was murdered by the Nazis during the Second World War. A stepping stone is an individually crafted cobblestone with an integrated brass plate with a name and some information. Creator Gunter Demnig's starting point for his decentralized European artwork is a Talmud quote that says that a person is only forgotten when the name is forgotten - through the propagation of the stumbling blocks, the names are not forgotten! In addition to the capital area, there are now also stumbling blocks in other Danish cities.

The city walk is a continuation of the lecture on stumbling blocks, where you go to some of the stumbling blocks that have been decommissioned in the inner city. You can easily participate in the city walk independently of the lecture.
