In Mindelunden, we light a candle in the dark on Thursday 28 September. Here we remember the Danish resistance fighters. Paths, graves and memorial plaques will be illuminated. The marking takes place without speeches or wreath-laying. We let the burning candles take center stage, with their strong symbolism of the hope for peace and freedom.

In October, it will be 80 years since the Danish Jews had to leave their lives and homes in Denmark in a hurry in order not to get the claws of the Nazis. Fortunately, most reached safe harbor in Sweden, while 470 Jews were arrested and deported to the ghetto in Theresienstadt. Many Danes took an active part in the escape aid, and some were thereby enlisted in the resistance struggle.

The lights are on from 18, and will be open until 22.
