The End of the Night - VR movie

30/11/23

Until and including November 2023

VR movie

The award-winning VR film, the end of the night, takes you back to the painful memories of that October night in 1943

Imagine getting into a rowing boat at the Danish Jewish Museum. You put on VR glasses and a headset, and suddenly you have landed in the middle of a painful memory from an October night in 1943. Surrounded by darkness, you sit face to face with the main character, Josef. You sail through a landscape of his fragmented memories, and gradually the sea gives way to the streets, buildings and people that fill his thoughts.

Through the physical proximity to Josef and the story he tells, you become involved in the trauma he lives with and the guilt he feels for having survived – when those he cared about were left behind.

The End of the Night is a personal strong story about escape, survival and guilt - but also about a hope that speaks into the present both through the fictional grip and the VR medium. The End of the Night is created by director David Adler and the production company Makropol and is currently being shown exclusively at the Danish Jewish Museum.
