470 Jews from Denmark ended up in the Theresienstadt near Prague. While most Danish Jews managed to escape, the 470 Jewish men and women – children, adults, and elderly – got to experience the terror and hardship of the Holocaust in a horrible Nazi ghetto. 53 did not survive the stay.
The www.danskejoederitheresienstadt.org website uses memoirs and video interviews to document their ghetto experience, fears, but also hopes and 'free spaces' in a world of extreme oppression.
Therkel Straede will demonstrate the diversity of their experience and reflections.
