Auschwitz Day in Odense

27/01/23

27 January 2023

Lecture and film screening

The anxiety, the uncertainty and the decisions that suddenly had to be made under pressure, the dramatic night crossing and the adaptation to the provisional existence of a refugee - the Jews' flight to Sweden in OCT. '43 is in focus at the annual Auschwitz Day in Odense.

The long-term consequences of suddenly being uprooted from a secure everyday life and having to flee is an important topic - what does it do to a person? Emma Klose Gorodkin's family history and documentary film bring us close to the Danish OKT. '43 events: days and nights full of drama - and it could easily have gone a lot worse than it did.

Emma Klose Gorodkin talks about "The flight to Sweden - a family story" and shows her documentary film "A Jewish woman's story" (2019).
